The following blog post is one that I wrote on October 10th, 2009. I’ve been riding the bus every since the 9th grade, but this was one of the most amazing things I ever saw on it. I was still amazed by it while reading it over today… Two and a HALF years later. Here’s the original link (I made a couple changes in this post for clarification purposes) from my Tumblr:
I saw a couple today that really taught me something. These two people got on the bus today. They were really kind of inspiring. This is why:
They were homeless. They were just the two of them taking care of each other. Carrying things, holding hands, helping each other. They sat right in front of me. They were dirty, but they didn’t mind. They were hungry, but they didn’t mind. They had little money, but they didn’t mind. All they cared about was each other and you could see that in EVERY single movement they made. He would put his arm around her and whisper into her ear, “I love you.” The bills of their hats would occasionally bump as they kissed. It was cute, seeing these two poor adults traveling along together.
Now, what perplexed me was that people who have everything these two didn’t have seem to fight constantly. How can we be so quick to target the ones that we love? Why can’t we forgive, forget, or just simply love? All humans deserve the love that you can only get from others. And really, we fight over mostly petty things… sometimes there are very important things to discuss… but they CAN be done without shouting.
They didn’t have a damn thing worth a dime, but they had their love. That’s what kept them alive. That’s what keeps them going.
Live for love. Live with love. Be someone’s source of happiness. Just take care of that person that you’re with because their presence and support is the most important thing that you can have.
Just something that I wanted to share :) I hope that you enjoyed it.
